dISABILITY AWARENESS COURSE

Attendees: All teachers and education professionals who recognise the importance of operating legally, ethically and in a compassionate manner with adults and children alike.

Cost: £5.00 to candidates and clients on a first come, first served basis
Purpose: This course is designed to make staff feel comfortable and confident when dealing with disabled people by removing the many misconceptions around disability and allaying this fear that many of us feel. This is all delivered in an interesting and informative way, with lots of, very appropriate humour.

Tutor: Nicola Morgan
Nicola is a Behaviour Management Consultant/Teacher and has over fifteen years experience working in a variety of settings, including mainstream and special needs schools. During this time she has developed a reputation for successfully managing the most challenging classes and pupils as well as motivating and inspiring staff to help implement change and ensure sustainability. Consequently,
she now runs training courses for schools/parents and is often invited to speak at key conferences on effective ways to help manage pupils within school and ways to create a positive learning environment.

Purpose: This course, a first introduction to Nicola will provide learns with a range of practical techniques which have clearly been effective throughout her career.

Mental health workshop for teachers

Attendees: All teachers and education professionals who would benefit from developing a greater sense of awareness about how mental health affects children and adolescents in schools.

Aims of workshop:
· To promote mental health awareness in schools.
· To provide teachers a greater sense of awareness about how mental health affects children and adolescents in schools.
· To encourage teachers to assess and evaluate their own mental health in the workplace, and share/promote ways to manage stress effectively.
Message from the Facilitator:"I believe teachers need access to mental health training, and I hope that this workshop will promote awareness and greater knowledge in mental health. In addition to providing factual information, I want this workshop to offer teachers a reflection space to think about their own mental health especially when working in schools."
