Information for Candidates

Classroom is a main provider of Support Teaching Staff to schools across London. Support staff are often known as Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) or Classroom Assistants (CAs). This type of work can be within mainstream schools or SEN (Special Educational Needs) schools. You may be assigned to work on a one-to-one basis or to support the class teacher.

We look for LSAs who are enthusiastic, flexible and caring and who want to help contribute to the learning and development of students. Working as an LSA is also a valuable experience if you’re looking to train as a teacher as this will allow you to gain relevant experience before you do a teaching qualification. It can also give you an idea about what age range you would like to teach.

To work as an LSA through Classroom, you do not require any formal teaching qualification, but you do need to have experience working with children i.e. within a school, summer camp, care home, Theatre in Education, etc. We ask that you have a minimum of 3 months experience working with children.

Some schools may have children attending who have Hepatitis B. We therefore recommend that our LSAs ensure that they have been immunized. You should consult your GP or walk in health centre for further information.

We have positions working as general LSAs working on a one-to-one basis with students. Whether you’re looking for day-to-day or long-term assignments, we will be able to help you. Classroom has a lot of actors registered who want work to fit in around auditions or castings. We will be able to help you as our schools often request LSAs back on any days you might be available.
