Thank you for visiting the Classroom website. As an expanding education recruitment agency we are continually registering new teachers, nursery nurses, classroom assistants and invigilators to join our team of dedicated professionals. Classroom offers long term, day to day and also permanent positions within a variety of schools and educational establishments.

We currently have available jobs on our Job Search link button. With so many varied positions currently available we have individual Primary, Secondary, Special Needs and Support divisions with dedicated and experienced consultants who will guide you through the procedure for finding the right position for you.

To register with Classroom you will need to ensure that you meet the following criteria –

Right to Work

UK citizens or citizens of members of the European Economic Area may freely work in the UK. Candidates with Ancestry visas may work here for up to 5 years – you can then apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain. Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of abode Working holiday visas are open to those under 30 and entitle the holder to a 2 year stay from the date of arrival, and permission to work for 365 days in total. In October 2008 this will change. Indefinite leave to remain is usually granted to, for example, asylum seekers, and entitles the holder and his/her family to work. A student visa allows the holder to work 20 hours a week. Workers from Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia or Slovenia need to register with the Workers Registration Scheme before we can be of assistance. Work permit dependents are entitled to work as long as the relevant work permit remains valid. Please bring with you your passport with relevant visa.

References and Police Checks

Have a valid CRB and be prepared to pay for a new one – the current cost is £36, although this will be refunded after you have worked for more than 20 days through Classroom. We will require proof of address in a CRB recognised format. Preferably have written references covering at least the last two years of employment with any gaps verified or be able to supply names and contact details of referees who are able to give professional child related references.

Qualifications

UK-trained teachers should hold a Bachelor of Education (BEd), a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). After that the teacher must obtain QTS. All UK and European Union qualified teachers teaching in State schools should have a DCSF number and be registered with the General Teaching Council of England (GTCE). We will need to verify your registration.

Overseas-trained teachers should hold a B Ed or the equivalent. The qualification must have entailed teaching practice in at least two schools and entitle the holder to teach in any state school in their own country. Overseas-trained teachers may teach in UK schools for a maximum of four years. After that, teacher must obtain QTS..

TEFL or similar qualifications, experience of teaching in private education, an MA or higher qualification, do not entitle the candidate to teach in State schools in the UK.

The above qualification requirements do not apply to Classroom Assistants. They must, however, have had some experience in the classroom.

Nursery Nurses must have any of the following qualifications, an NNEB certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development or a BTEC National Diploma in Early Years or a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education.
